2 of Cups

Lady Frieda Harris’s illustration of the Two of Cups is by far my favorite.  For me the card embodies the simplicity and beauty of the search for love; the duad.

This card shows how the monad, the androgynous soul, has divided to form the duad, feminine and masculine energies. Unstable in its brief existence, the dyad symbolizes an exchange of love between two people.  The interaction is always moving toward becoming larger than the two beings themselves. The duad always wants to become a triad. Becoming a triad happens without effort. True emotions of intense and delightful emotions create a third entity; a relationship. The relationship birthed from the mixing of male and female energies is more stable than the dyad itself.

The relationship created by bringing together masculine and feminine energies is always bigger than the participating individuals. Furthermore, each participant is in someway in service to the other. It is the transfer of energies that helps keep the relationship moving, growing and pure.

saturn_false.jpgIt has been a little more than a month since Saturn moved from Leo’s ostentatious penthouse, where she was itchy, into Virgo’s practical brownstone. For, about, the next two and half years Saturn, will be residing with the task master of the universe, mastering the art of doing “The Work”.

The planet of Karma and maturation arrives in Virgo offering lessons to help propel you to the next level. Saturn encourages us to think seriously about whom we are, what we want to do and the process of getting it all done. Saturn is often seen as a negative aspect in relation to one’s chart, as often times it does signal where the greatest challenges lie. I choose to look at Saturn’s influence as beneficial. Where would we be if we did not have Saturn to move us to do the work we so often times do not want to even think about? If you believe, as I do, that Saturn loves you enough to tell you the truth about yourself, then you will be rewarded for accepting feedback.

If you ignore Saturn and the lessons she offers, then you will be miserable. Saturn has a way of humbling us in a big way. Her lessons can be quite painful and usually hit you in the area you can least afford. This two and half year period of Virgo in Saturn will feel good for folks who can have a “functionary” attitude toward their destinies. Doing the work with love, passion and understanding of the importance Collective Joy, will propel many of us to heights we have never even thought possible. The trick with Saturn is to decide what you want and go after it with tenacity and passion. Take risks and be YOU!

Immediate rewards usually do not surface or do so rather slowly. Take heart and know that despite the hardship, Saturn is preparing you to be the BEST you can possibly be. In Virgo Saturn is comfortable and is all about details, organization, and planning, which eventually lead to healing, growth and success. Through your hard work and the willingness to show up you will reach your goals which, will ultimately heal you. Healing, growth and success are the goal. Go forth Saturians and Prosper!
