I am so sick of seeing McCain’s face every time my blog loads as my home page.  Mommy brain is for real. Despite the weird condition affecting my attention span and memory, I am posting.

The magnitude of this health hazard has suddenly hit me and not only is my head spinning but my entire body feels paralyzed. The puzzle has started to fit together in my head and the picture is none to pretty.

Bisphenol-A was first synthesized in 1891 but it was not until the 1930’s that the estrogenicity of the monomer was first recorded (Dodds and Lawson 1936, 1938). Diethylstilbestrol was found to be a stronger estrogen and interest in Bishenol-A declined until scientist discovered its polymerization abilities with plastics. Bishphenol-A is also a known hormone disruptor or endocrine disruptor. The chemical has been shown to mimic estrogen, a female hormone.

In April 2000, the WWF UK presented a report on the possible environmental effects Bisphenol-A. They cite a growing international concern over man-made endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDC’s) because they can directly affect the development of offspring in the womb. Some of the possible effects listed in this April 2000 report are: “the decline in sperm counts, and the increased rates of hormone related cancers, such as cancers of the breast, testes and prostate. They are also suspected of causing birth defects of the reproductive tract (including un-descended testes), and other hormone related effects, such as earlier puberty
in girls.”

Bisphenol-A is a monomer used in the production of polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins. Polycarbonate plastics are clear nearly shatter proof plastics that have replaced glass in many facets of everyday life world wide. Epoxy resins are used to line the inside of cans the contain baby formula and other food products. Unfortunately, these plastics and resins utilize a chemical bond with a weak link. The polymers created with PBA and polycarbonate plastics and resins are weak and decay over time and when heated. PBA is then released into the substance held in the polycarbonate or PVC plastic, or coated with a epoxy resin.

How much PBA is too much? Here is the crux of the issue which is being so hotly debated. There is so much money at stake here for the plastic industry and major chemical companies world wide. There is a raging debate about plastic that has my head spinning. Bisphenol-A found in polycarbonates and resins worldwide is scientifically proven to leach from plastics into our food. What is not known or can be agreed upon are the levels of Bisphenol-A that are safe in the human body.

Researching all of the possibilities was really crazy because the plastic and chemical industries are in damage control mode and are releasing general statements, which are in conflict with the statements made by mass media. I used primary sources to understand the crux of the debate and really understand what is at stake.

Intent in communication is significant in everyday verbal and physical intercourse. Those of us without understanding of our direct link to Spirit often dupe ourselves. Not following or being aware of Spirit’s message, can result in one’s destiny being twisted by the intent of others.

Meditation can lead you to being more aware of yourself, your environment and those who are in your sphere. Without the understanding to trust the signals you receive from Source, you are defenseless and powerless over your true destiny. Taking responsibility for not trusting information provided you by Source is paramount to moving on from experiences which have left you surprised, weakened and exposed.

Sure in a perfect world people should always come to one another open handed and in truth. However, reality is quite different. Many people come with undeclared and hurtful intentions. When you ignore your gut/intuition/Knowledge from Source, you open the door way for those undeclared and often times negative intentions to manifest.

Take responsibility for your lack of awareness. Awareness enables you to never depend on another’s intentions for truth. Your intrinsic knowledge which flows from Source will provide you with all that you need to operate safely and effectively in the world. Your lessons will be welcome and not so painful. Open to Source and Trust the God in you.

Noami Wolf has written a rather outspoken article called, Fascist America, in 10 easy steps, in which she implies the current Bush administration will make a grab for power before or at the end of its tenure. The concept of Bush extending his presidential term, does not surprise me. I am impressed, however, by Wolf’s ability to connects dots to see the larger picture.

Ms. Wolf outlines nine steps various leaders completed before taking the tenth, making themselves dictators. She clearly illustrates how the Bush administration have accomplished each of nine steps and notes the recently passed legal sanctions needed for step ten. She ends with the contention that a population willing and able to look the other way, was key in allowing each dictators the latitude needed to create political upheaval resulting in fascism.

I agree. Americans are looking the other way and allowing freedoms we were born into erode, such that our children will not indulge in them . However, unlike Ms. Wolf I see this not as a “leisurely,” consent. Rather I see it as a symptom of a larger reality; POVERTY.

A growing apathy toward our nation’s political well being is caused by working poverty. More and more people who were in the working class or the middle class are falling into the indebtedness of poverty a.k.a indentured servitude.

More daunting than watching families slide straight into the hole, is knowing that it was a Democrat (whose wife is now running for the presidency) who systematically dismantled the social safety network in our nation. We, the American public, were convinced of a lazy, uneducated, and immoral underclass who were robbing us of our tax dollars. We were overwhelmed with images that played on our fears and offered a solution to the fleecing. A once in a life-time opportunity arose. We could easily rid ourselves of the images of fat, lazy and ignorant people by to getting rid of the system. A system of social benefits created to enable families to overcome temporary setbacks and/or transcend poverty was revisited and restructured. Today’s system offers indentured servitude to any person who falls into the abyss.

After the Depression, Welfare was seen as a benefit for American citizens who were having a rough spell. During the seventies and the eighties Welfare became known as a social benefit that lazy people received which allowed them to stay home and never work again. Today, the Welfare system is indentured servitude. Depending on the state, a family has up to five years to receive welfare benefits, a life-long limitation which numerous states have shortened. In various states, a condition of receiving social benefits is a welfare-to-work program.

Many Americans who have fallen down the rabbit hole find themselves in a quandary. They want to work and be independent but find the conditions of the social “leg up” unforgiving and strangely supportive of their dependency on these programs. They quickly become part of a unnervingly cruel cycle, which at the its very best provides just enough to feed the members of unfortunate families. And at its worst, permanently entraps families. Compounded by failing schools poverty ensnares the next generation and the cycle begins again.

So yes, Americans are looking the other way, we are either diligently working to avoid the poverty abyss, or trying to get out of the deep hole of indentured servitude. Dare I beg the question, “What is the solution?” A population busy trying to keep a roof over its head, put food on its table and keep clothing on its back just does not have the time to fight the “good fight.”

A little girl named Lakshmi, from India has mesmerized me with her spiritual and physical beauty. She has four arms like the Goddess Lakshmi, for whom she is named, and four legs. With her 8 limbs, she looks like a spider. Unfortunately, she is not able to move like a spider or a human.

Lakshmi is a ischiopagus conjoined twin. Her twin is termed a ‘parasite’ and stopped development in their mother’s womb. The parasitic twin and Lakshmi are fused at the torso. This has made learning to walk difficult and doctor’s have predicted that Lakshmi would not have lived further than her teen years without intervention.

The Bangalore hospital has a team of 36 doctors with various specialties, who performed 27 hours of surgery for free. Lakshmi is now in recovery and has been said to be doing well. She held her mother’s hand and cried that she wanted to go too, when her parents left for the night.

Lakshmi you are in my thoughts. You have already manifested the abundance and wealth for which you are already so well known. I look forward to experiencing more wealth, health and abundance through you.

Allowing blessings  can sometimes be a challenge for me. I know what I want and am happy to do the work to get it. However, I often find myself being too practical and worrying more about the details instead of the larger picture. I generally get bogged down in a mental minutia, which causes me to be tired too.

Today, I received a message from spirit. It came through a new ally. She said, “Don’t worry about how it is going to come about. That is not your job.” Gleefully corrected, I slithered off and finished doing my thing.

I have faith, to move any mountain, to conquer anything……… I needed that reminder and am grateful.

I do not worship the Keeper of Time. Instead, I am a devote of the Nurturer of Freedom, Mother Nature. Despite my intense veneration of the Goddess of Freedom, I still get my ass whooped by the Father of Law and Order, Time.

Father Time can be a very cruel God, satisfying desires and or needs at the last possible second. In many cases, blessings come just after they were due, sending the recipient running, stretching to make it to the finished line. He always seems to be in hot pursuit of you, especially when you want to achieve or manifest. He can never just be mellow and deliver everything to you in the perfect manner at the perfect time. Nope. Father Time has to chime away in your ear, reminding you of his presence. As soon as an experience becomes unbearably enjoyable, the situation changes or worse yet, it ends. El Padre screams in the loudest whisper “Tick, tock, tick tock.” Barely audible but always present, Time is always.

I have been at war with Him, fighting hard to free myself of a perceived cyclical jail and an insane mandate to march when and how I am told. So badly have I wanted freedom, that I have created my own jail. What do I need to escape this fate?

My great desire is to worship all that is fertile, dark and inextricably beautiful in Gaia. I have failed my mission to command Time and not be commanded. I have forgotten my power and forgotten the ways in which Mother Nature can rally those around her to overcome Father Time aka Saturn…… The stories exists in plenitude of how Time has been overwhelmed by might and/or wit. My favorite being that of Ra and Nut.

Nut is Ra’s Queen and she decides she wants to have children, but Ra realizes that if Nut has a son, then her son will one day be his heir. Ra does not want to give up his crown to any one. Ra curses Nut, declaring that she not be able to bear children on any day of the year. Grieving , Nut calls Tehuti to help her. Tehuti loves Nut and says he will help and knows too, that he could never reverse the spell cast by Ra.

He devises a plan and the Thrice -Great God decides to challenge Khonsu the Moon-God to a game of draughts. Tehuti wins and wins and Khonsu keeps upping the stakes to keep Tehuti interested in playing. Tehuti tells Khonsu that he will play again if Khonsu will offer light as the prize. Tehuti wins enough light to create five (5) more days and on each new day added, Nut gives birth.

I too need to invoke the wit and magic of Tehuti. I anticipate intense euphoria after I beat Time. I am in control and can manifest anything at any time. I need a little help from my friends…….

I feel new.

I reside in a cute little flat which is new for myself and my daughter. I have a new lover. I share a new perspective of the world around me. I am looking for a new life schedule.

I am not paralysed by fear.

I am enjoying the newness. Although I am a bit anxious for more newness, the vibe I am living is pretty generous. I am myself.

1. When moving, do not depend on friends to help. Most of them do not want to spend their free time lifting your junk.
2. The friends/associates that do assist are like GOLD, no PLATINUM, better yet, DIAMONDS!
3. Treat your friends to a slice or two for their help but not at Graziella’s (too pricey)!
4. $220.83 can hire two men and a van instead of feeding 12 folks pizza & wine!
5. Security Guards who pick their noses before you have to give them id are FOUL!

is dark brown aka African-American. Her name is Maddy and is known as the “Frog Princess.”

The Frog Princess, huh? Isn’t that the story of a princess/prince who is an actual frog? The plot involes a frog who can sew, cook and create a heavenly abode her potential mate just can’t get over her being a frog? Or in this case an African-American chambermaid…….

Disney is not spilling the beans of the story line. They are providing some pictures from their corporate event which unveiled the project and this official news release.

Who is Maddy? How closely is the story modeled on the traditional frog princess/prince tales? Are we to take a hint from their other princess of color stories and sigh, wince, grit our teeth for the worse? Do we allow for the possibility that Disney has finally gotten its formula to work for folks of color? It is possible for Disney, after 70 years of developing fairy tales for America’s youth, fairly deliver, in integrity and respect, an African-American princess who will be loved by people of all colors?

I have to say, I am really not sure about this one. The potential is there but according to information found on-line there is also a great possibility that this can be a huge debackle. The traditional frog Princess/Prince is a tale of finding a good mate without investing too much on looks. In one version a mother has her three sons ask their potential mates to spin flax and who ever does it best will be her most beloved daughter-in-law.

Why is Maddy the Frog Princess? Could it be those European beauty standards get in the way and therefore she has to make her impression on a prince through hard work?

Gritting teeth…..Here is the cast as reported from a casting call:

• Maddy - A 19-year-old chambermaid.
• Charlotte La Bouff - A 18-year-old spoiled, southern Debutante and Diva.
• Dr. Duvalier - An African American Voodoo magician/fortune teller. The villain of the movie.
• Mama Odie - An elderly, 200-year-old Voodoo priestess/fairy god-mother.
• Ray - A lovesick Cajun firefly.
• Louis - A Jazz singer alligator.
• Prince Harry - A gregarious, fun-loving European Prince, in his early twenties.
• Lawrence - Prince Harry’s pompous valet.
• Big Daddy La Bouff - Wealthy, Southern plantation landowner and father of Charlotte La Bouff.
• Eudora - Maddy’s mother. In her fifties. Used to be Charlotte’s nurse maid.
• George - The La Bouff family’s cook.
• Little Arila - Maddy’s little sister. She’s little, but very smart

Maybe, the European male character doesn’t have that much to do with Maddy and he doesn’t take her to the ball in the end. There are other possibilities.

I have one question for the person who decided to call the villain, Dr. Duvalier: “Were you high?” LOL Papa Doc, I am screaming! I guess you are not expecting too many Haitian immigrants to complain about that one huh? UUhhmmm, Disney Executives, holla at me if you need help keeping this one clean……

Let me state right here and right now, that I want Disney to succeed. I really want to be able to give my five year old a copy of the Frog Princess. I do not want to give the impression of being unduly harsh. I am not a huge fan of Disney, but I have been to Disneyworld and Disneyland and really want those of us from the African diaspora to fit into American culture like everyone else. Oh wait, who really fits into American culture?

I am not a huge fan of the Academy Awards but watched most of the program. Actually from about 9 PM until it finished and that was only because HBO aired a repeat of Rome. (more…)
