The folks over at Shabby Apple do a wonderful job of keeping women dressed fantastically. They offer beautiful and comfortable dresses for women of almost every size, style advice and a fit guide. I really liked the “Shop By Body Type” section. I answered three questions and I was accurately presented with my body type and given a host of great dresses that would flatter my shape. Their latest collection, The Silk Road, is fabulous and contains my favorite dress. Which brings me around to my whole point of this post. GIVEAWAY!

Let’s Talk About Love – Build-A-Bear Giveaway

Build-A-Bear has recently unveiled a new bear called the Peace & Hugs Bear. He/She is very adorable and different from all the other bears, it is navy blue! With peace sign stamped all over, this bear is a down to earth addition to the Build-A-Bear family. Luckily, the Peace & Hugs bear is not just about being cute, he/she has a BIG message, LOVE and how each of us can contribute positively to the lives of others. To help the Peace & Hugs bear spread the message, singers Jamia Nash, Grammy Award winning, Natalie Cole, David Archuleta, and Meaghan Martin have lent their voices to a beautiful song called, “Let’s Talk About Love.” The tune can be purchased from the Build-A-Bear website for a $1.00 donation to the Save the Children charity. Each artist brings their own flair to the song. Jamia sings an R&B rendition with such charisma and flair. She has been helping to raise awareness of Build-A-Bear’s campaign for kindness. and was at the event we were invited to signing autographs. She was super sweet to Alana who drew her a picture and asked for her autograph.

After hanging out with Jamia for a while we had refreshments and then went off to build bears. We each got a gift certificate to build a bear. Even I got a gift certificate, which really pleased and surprised me because mommies usually don’t get the gifts meant for the kids. We each built a bear, yes even Asherah built a long eared bunny. Alana chose a horse and I chose Hello Kitty! I really enjoyed the process. It was super cute and I loved putting my heart into my Hello Kitty! The woman who helped us fill the stuffed animals was super helpful (but I can’t remember her name YIKES! Sorry.)

In accordance with the new Peace & Hugs Bear’s philosophy of being kind, I am sponsoring a giveaway of two items, a $25 Build-A-Bear gift certificate and my Hello Kitty! From August 7th until August 21st you can enter by following the directions below!

Stride Rite 2009 & Giveaway

I was invited to preview Stride Rite’s new 2009 Fall styles. What really impressed me was that there were so many brands under their banner. Robeez, Saucony, Sperry Top-Sider and a new Jessica Simpson line for the “maturing pre-teen.”

Just as impressive is their new technology called the STEP system which is designed to support children through four stages of walking. The Hospital of Special Surgery has been working with Stride Rite on a study which fueled the design of the shoes for the line. Preliminary results have shown that the best way to support muscular development is to allow children’s feet touch the surface on which they walk. It was also determined that shoes for children should be flexible, allowing most of baby’s feet to move as it needs.

Barefoot is best and shoes should be flexible! Wow isn’t that exactly the opposite of what the rules were when we were children? I remember the shoes that used to get bronzed where always a hard leathered bottom boot that kept your foot from rolling about and forced you to lift your feet high. I think my grandmother had my first pair somewheres. Have I just dated myself?

The STEP system has four stages, each :
