The angel whispered but all I could hear was the flapping of a butterfly’s wings.  She wouldn’t move on so I could hear the words pour like a sweet lemonade into my left ear. Outstretched to greedily grab all that I could out of her mouth, I nearly pulled the muscles in my neck. Why couldn’t I move my feet to get closer, why wouldn’t this butterfly move away, I am missing it and now the butterfly is louder than my own heart. How could something so beautiful be such an annoyance?

I am so excited I just might bust! I am so excited about November 1st. I am going to to start writing a novel with all the other participants of Nanowrimo. Just think of all of the possibilities! I might become famous and wealthy for a book I wrote in one month. I could possibly get a call from Oprah’s people and end up on her fine leather couch pontificating about my inspiration for genius! Don’t worry, I forget all you little people! :) Wicked!

If you have never heard of Nanowrimo, it is a wacky approach to novel writing. The goal is to write 175 pages which is about 50,000 words in one month. Beginning November 1st, you can add any number of words per day. The focus is not on perfecting the craft of writing, rather output, perseverance and enthusiasm are key.  “Because of the limited writing window, the ONLY thing that matters in NaNoWriMo is output. It’s all about quantity, not quality. The kamikaze approach forces you to lower your expectations, take risks, and write on the fly.”  I have permission to write crap and lots of it! This exercise is a perfect opportunity for me to banish the perfectionista inside my head who slows my output down in favor of quality. I look forward to ridding myself of her for a month if not forever!

But wait the greatest thing about Nanowrimo has yet to be mentioned. Giving is always, in mind, the ultimate and Nanowrimo is poised to offer you the opportunity to give to budding writers.  No matter your budget you can donate, either with cash or time, energy and/or sweat.  Get ready, get set, go!

I am looking for buddies for NaNoWriMo! If you too are participating, leave a comment with your user name and I will find you or you can find me. My user name is Adiaha!
