POM Wonderful

We have been getting through this winter with little sickness compared to last year. Last year we dealt with snotty noses and coughs for much of the winter. We made some dietary changes which have been long lasting and have served us good.

We eliminated much of our dairy intake and have substituted cows milk with almond milk and we eat mostly vegan cheese. Sometimes we have got to have real cheese. We miss it and so I allow us to have pizza and mozzarella with tomatoes, which happens to be my favorite snack. This has really made a huge difference in the mucus factor. We simply do not produce as much sans dairy. There are a great number of products which are great substitutes for butter, mayonnaise, and grated cheese. I digress.

We have also been more aware of the juices we drink. Many fruit juices have sugar added and that diminishes any nutritional quality it may offer. We had been looking for juices with no added sugar but a high antioxidant and/or vitamin content. We found POM and we love it. It has the highest amount of antioxidants and no added sugar. It is a bit tart tasting at first but after repeated introduction my oldest, Alana doesn’t hesitate to drink it anymore. She now likes to pretend the her POM is wine.

The POM Wonderful website has a wealth of information about the different drinks they offer and Pomegranates recipes.
