Stroller Love

Asherah is walking well now and her stroller days are numbered. I thought a $25 umbrella stroller from Cookies would cut it until she was ready to walk everywhere, but that was wishful insane thinking on my part. The umbrella stroller is demolished and looks really dirty and I need to invest in something a bit more sturdy to get us through to the next phase of her toddler-hood.

I know, I know get a Maclaren just like everyone else in NYC but I just can’t won’t purchase a Maclaren. I just can’t….So I have my eye on the Chicco Capri. Super light weight, reclines and a weather system can be purchased for rain and super cold days. Will it get us through the winter?

I have had great success with Ingelsina strollers in the past, so maybe I’ll get the Swift Trip because it has a rain cover and cup holder. I will be out trying a few different stollers here and there over the next couple of weeks. I really don’t want to get stuck with a piece of crap stroller so while I may purchase the damned thing on line, I am trying it in the stores first!

Any suggestions of what worked for you and why would be really appreciated. Of course if you live in a suburb and your stroller has lasted 3 years because it only gets used at the mall…well you know thanks but no thanks….

I don’t live out in the surburbs but the 20 dollars cookie stroller worked for me because I drove everywhere and only used it for short trips. Sorry, wish Icould help a little more but my stroller days days ended as soon as he started to walk.. Ihope you find a solution soon.

Don’t do it. Get the Maclaren. We had a Chico much like the Capri above which barely lasted the summer and certainly did not make it that winter. (would have been better off with a $20 – $25 umbrella Stroller). Had to wind up buying the Maclaren . The Inglesina does look it will hold up. Don’t forget to look at the reclining feature.

It does seem like everyone and their mama in the city has the MacLaren. Is it really that great, I often wonder? Right now we use a Snap-N-Go for the baby, but I’ll have to start thinking about what we’ll use once he outgrows the infant seat. I do have a Graco travel system but its way too big and cumbersome to navigate comfortably along NYC streets!

I’m with Yakini, EVERYONE has a MacLaren and I too considered it but our Uppa Baby G-Luxe was just lighter for getting around NYC subways and not so pricey either helped. This will be our 1st winter with it, so we’ll see how it holds up but so far I’m more than happy. Good Luck!
